Re-Building Education: post conflict
Schools- Liberian education are going through reform. Currently the education system is in a post-conflict state, whereby school buildings are either destroyed or unfit for instruction. As a result many Liberian youth either find themselves having to attend privately funded schools at their own expense, or trying to cram into substandard public schools where they are many years above the normal student’s age of attendance. Furthermore, although the speaking language is English, the syntax and annunciation of their words are largely unintelligible to other English speakers nor can they understand most non-Liberian English speakers. Oftentimes, they are taught by Native Liberians, whom while they are educated, are teaching improper English dialect and further perpetuating the language faux-pa'.
EDUCATION

CWA will build learning centers/schools that educate from a structured cognitive learning structured perspective. In some places we will be simply building the structures and the government will supply the teachers via government programs. In other places, we endeavor to instill our own teachers (many have already volunteered) and we will focus on phonics, syntax and diction and employ the A Beka Curriculum in these Learning Centers. Our plans are to build all-purpose building structures that resemble learning classes with recreational centers attached. These educational Recreation Centers (EduRec) will be used for a variety of purposes that will service the community as a whole e.g., computer labs, clinics, media rooms (showing educational cartoons/videos), spiritual and community gathering facilities.
This helps complete the mission of sustainable solutions. Without education, no community can properly thrive.
